Trees on Farms Grant application submitted

A Trees on Farms Grant application has been submitted for the planing of trees and shrubs to create a wildlife corridor from Charleyong Creek to Tomboye road along the Fence of two properties.

The Applicants are Tony and Nick.

Message from the President

Thank you for the opportunity to represent Tomboye Landcare as President. In this post I will outline some thoughts that will guide my actions in this role. Please feel free to raise any ideas or concerns you have with me directly. See “Contact Us” for contact information.

My role as president

Perform the normal role of President and

  • Build and empower all committee members in their roles.
  • Develop the role of President to set a benchmark for future Presidents.
  • Actively work towards succession planning for my own role and those of all committee members.
  • Encourage Participation and promoting membership.
  • Respond effectively to the needs and skills of members.

Off and running

Tomboye landcare is now off and running. The minutes of the last meeting have been sent to all on our email list.

Special thanks to Felicity for her support and reference materials, Di for her sage advice and Jenny for the use of the Nerriga Hall which was wonderful.

And also thanks to all who attended and especially those who volunteered for a role.  It is with some humility I (Tony) accept the role of President and appreciate the trust I have been given. Watch this space for a message from the President.

First formal Landcare meeting a success

Following the inspiring initial meeting in March the First Formal Tomboye Landcare meeting on the 21st of April was very successful.

We now have what we need to proceed to Incorporate and establish the group formally as an independent legally established organisation.

Tomboye Landcare Formation meeting

The first public meeting of the new Tomboye Landcare is to take place on Easter Saturday. All who are interested in being involved with this new Landcare chapter are welcome, Current plans are to focus on the small areas of Tomboye and Charleyong, where the Nerriga Road crosses the Mongarlowe River, however the public are invited if they are keen to be involved.

The Details are at 4pm on Easter Saturday the 23rd of April at the Nerriga Hall, Just past the Hotel in the Nowra Direction.

Please check our website here, at www.tomboye.net/landcare/ in the week before, for any last minute alterations, in the unlikely case of a change we will endeavor to place a notice on the hall in advance.

The Bank Job

Friends of the Mongarlowe River FMR has been successful in gaining the Funding through the recreational fishing trust to carry out a rehabilitation project on the eroded bank at ‘Riverlea’ on the Mongarlowe River! This is right near Tomboye and is supported by some members of the newly established Tomboye Landcare.

Tomboye Landcare Initial meeting a success

On February the 26th the first meeting of the Tomboye Landcare group took place. The details will be reported here shortly. It was a wonderful success with attendance and interest expressed as well as many ideas. There are few steps for the Interim committee Tony, Bill and Julia to undertake with the first formal meeting occurring at 4pm on the 19th of March.
